How to breed 5IV and 6IV perfect Pokemon
What you absolutely need:
- Access to a Day-Care Center (Route 7, Route 117, or Battle Resort).
- Destiny Knot item.
- A (Mach) Bike.
- Everstone Item.
- A 6IV Ditto. (You can buy that here)
- A 6IV Parent Pokemon.
- A Pokemon with the Flame Body or Magma Armor Ability.
- Access to the Battle Resort or Kiloude City.
First you need access to a Day Care Center.
To get a 6IV Pokemon as quick as possible, gain access to a 6IV Ditto and a 6IV Parent Pokemon. For instance, a 6IV Ampharos if you want to breed a 6IV Mareep. Give the Destiny Knot either of the Pokemon. The Destiny Knot guarantees that 5 IVs will be inherited from the parents, but more on that later. If one of the two Pokemon has the nature you want the child to have, give it an Everstone. This will guarantee that the child inherits the nature. For example:
A 6IV Ditto with a Modest nature. The Everstone guarantees that the child will also have a Modest nature. It being shiny is of course not required and makes no difference whatsoever.
A 6IV Ampharos. The Destiny Knot makes sure that 5 IVs will be inherited by the child.
The Destiny Knot takes 5 IVs out of the possible 12 (6 from both parents) and gives it to the child.
The last IV, in this case Special Defense, is randomly generated. The number can be between 0-31 with 0 and 31 included. In other words, there is a 1/32 (3.125%) chance of getting 31 IVs in the last stat. So after getting about a box of eggs, there’s a good chance of finding a 6IV Pokemon in there. If 5IVs is good enough you have about a 1/5 (19.27%) of the Pokemon inheriting the right stats, like an Alakazam whose Attack stat is randomly generated. If you have a 6IV and a 5IV as parents, the odds of getting a 6IV Pokemon is about 1/54 (1.83%). The odds of getting the right 5 IV stats, if 5IVs is enough for you, is the same as using two 6IV parents.
You can check the IVs of the child in the Pokemon Center of the Battle Resort or Kiloude City. He will name the stat(s) with the highest points first. Hopefully he will list all 6 stats. He will use the following lines to describe the IV Range:
0-15: "It has rather decent stats, I'd say. That's how I judge it."
16-25: "It's definitely got some good stats. That's how I judge it."
26-30: "This Pokémon has some fantastic stats. That's how I judge it."
31: "Stats like those... They simply can't be beat! That's how I judge it."
If you have access to it, put a Pokemon with the Flame Body or Magma Armor ability in your party before cycling. This makes eggs hatch twice as fast.
By using these techniques you will be able to consistently breed 5IV and 6IV Pokemon for competitive use.
